(Sweet Briars and Canina Hybrids) A breathtaking spectacle in midsummer, Amy Robsart produces generous clusters of semi-double, deep rose-pink blooms with a strong, sweet fragrance that drifts generously on the warm June air. Come autumn, the display continues with a richly coloured crop of ornamental hips, extending the season's beauty long after the flowers have faded. Named for the ill-fated wife of Robert Dudley, favourite of Queen Elizabeth I, this rose carries a poignant piece of Tudor history in its name.

Frequently asked questions

Bare-root Amy Robsart roses are best planted during their dormant season, from November to March, which is also when we dispatch them. Potted roses are grown in containers and can be planted at any time of year — just avoid periods of hard frost or drought, and water thoroughly after planting.

Every rose we sell is covered by our 1-year Rose Guarantee, so you can plant Amy Robsart with confidence. See our Rose Guarantee page for the full details.

Often, yes — we grow our roses ourselves and stock varies through the season, so a variety that's sold out can come back. Use the "Notify me" button above to be emailed the moment Amy Robsart is back in stock.

Amy Robsart's mature growth range is 300cm x 180cm (10ft x 6ft). Growing conditions such as soil, sunlight, feeding and pruning can affect the final size, so treat this as a guide rather than an exact figure.

Species roses are the original wild roses that all garden roses descend from, largely unchanged by breeding. They typically flower once, in a simple five-petalled form, and many go on to produce decorative autumn hips — a good choice for wildlife gardens and naturalistic planting.

Amy Robsart belongs to our Sweet Briars and Canina Hybrids group of species roses.
