(Rugosas) Deep reddish-carmine, single blooms of striking simplicity open continuously from early summer well into autumn, each flower powerfully fragrant and followed by a generous crop of vivid round scarlet hips. The coarse, deeply veined foliage turns to rich autumnal tones, extending the season's ornamental display long after the last petals fall. This is the wild species itself — nature's own rugosa rose, unimproved and utterly irresistible in its honest, rugged beauty.
