(Hybrid Perpetuals) Deep crimson to an almost velvety black, the richly cupped blooms of this magnificent rose carry an intoxicating fragrance, their dark petals occasionally parted to reveal a flash of golden anthers within. Remarkably repeat-flowering from summer well into autumn, it is a rose of rare drama and old-world romance. Named in honour of French physician Dr Jamain, a keen rosarian himself, it remains one of the darkest and most beguiling roses ever raised.
