(Modern Climbers) A Peter Beales Roses introduction of quiet, luminous beauty, 'Poetical Liz' opens from deep yellow buds into semi-double lemon blooms adorned with rich golden anthers, the petals softening to a paler, honey-washed cream as they mature. Flowering in early summer and again into autumn, this repeat-blooming climber offers a moderately fragrant, gently radiant display that brings warmth and elegance to walls, pergolas, and arches throughout the season.

Frequently asked questions

Bare-root Poetical Liz roses are best planted during their dormant season, from November to March, which is also when we dispatch them. Potted roses are grown in containers and can be planted at any time of year — just avoid periods of hard frost or drought, and water thoroughly after planting.

Every rose we sell is covered by our 1-year Rose Guarantee, so you can plant Poetical Liz with confidence. See our Rose Guarantee page for the full details.

Often, yes — we grow our roses ourselves and stock varies through the season, so a variety that's sold out can come back. Use the "Notify me" button above to be emailed the moment Poetical Liz is back in stock.

Poetical Liz's mature growth range is 300cm x 240cm (10ft x 8ft). Growing conditions such as soil, sunlight, feeding and pruning can affect the final size, so treat this as a guide rather than an exact figure.

Climbing roses produce fewer, larger flowers on stiffer, more upright growth, and most repeat-flower through summer with a light prune each year. Rambling roses grow much more vigorously on long, flexible canes and produce one spectacular flush of smaller flowers in early-to-midsummer, usually pruned just after flowering rather than in winter.

Poetical Liz belongs to our Modern Climbers family of roses.
