(Modern Climbers) A breathtaking once-flowering climber that erupts in midsummer with densely quartered blooms of molten amber, yolk-yellow and warm apricot-orange, occasionally flushed with softest pink as the petals mature and pale. The flowers are richly and deeply fragrant, borne in generous clusters against handsome, lustrous foliage, creating a spectacular and opulent display that rewards patience with something truly alchemical.

Mesmerising and mysterious beauty!A wealth of loveliness.

In it's first year, and this stunning climber is beautiful. The large roses turn from yellow to rich gold, then it performs further in it's ' change of state' and mellows to tinges of magnesium and sulphur pink. like glowing lanterns. As it's name suggests, it's magical and a joy to behold!

Frequently asked questions

Bare-root Alchymist roses are best planted during their dormant season, from November to March, which is also when we dispatch them. Potted roses are grown in containers and can be planted at any time of year — just avoid periods of hard frost or drought, and water thoroughly after planting.

Every rose we sell is covered by our 1-year Rose Guarantee, so you can plant Alchymist with confidence. See our Rose Guarantee page for the full details.

Often, yes — we grow our roses ourselves and stock varies through the season, so a variety that's sold out can come back. Use the "Notify me" button above to be emailed the moment Alchymist is back in stock.

Alchymist's mature growth range is 360cm x 250cm (12ft x 8.3ft). Growing conditions such as soil, sunlight, feeding and pruning can affect the final size, so treat this as a guide rather than an exact figure.

Climbing roses produce fewer, larger flowers on stiffer, more upright growth, and most repeat-flower through summer with a light prune each year. Rambling roses grow much more vigorously on long, flexible canes and produce one spectacular flush of smaller flowers in early-to-midsummer, usually pruned just after flowering rather than in winter.

Alchymist belongs to our Modern Climbers family of roses.
