(Bourbons) Variegata di Bologna is a breathtaking Bourbon of vivid, almost painterly character, its fully double blooms dramatically striped in deep purple-crimson over a creamy white ground — an effect both bold and richly beautiful. The flowers carry a pleasing fragrance and appear in generous flushes through summer and again in autumn, making it one of the more reliably repeat-flowering striped roses. Named for the Italian city of Bologna, where it was raised and introduced in 1909.
