(The Shrub species) A charming and distinctive rose, Rosa × Harisonii bears a profusion of small, double, button-like blooms of pure, clear yellow, carried in generous clusters along arching, thorny stems clothed in delicate, fern-like foliage. Flowering freely in early summer, its richly fragrant blossoms make an unforgettable display. Known as 'Harrison's Yellow', this historic rose is believed to have originated in New York in the early nineteenth century in the garden of lawyer George Folliott Harrison.

Potted roses are grown in containers and can be planted at any time of year — just avoid periods of hard frost or drought, and water thoroughly after planting.

Rosa X Harisonii's mature growth range is 120cm x 90cm (4ft x 3ft). Growing conditions such as soil, sunlight, feeding and pruning can affect the final size, so treat this as a guide rather than an exact figure.

Shrub roses are a broad, informal group bred mainly for garden performance rather than a single flower shape — most repeat-flower generously, have good disease resistance, and combine well with other plants in a mixed border. They typically grow into a rounded, bushy shape rather than climbing or trailing.

Rosa X Harisonii belongs to our The Shrub species group.

Species roses are the original wild roses that all garden roses descend from, largely unchanged by breeding. They typically flower once, in a simple five-petalled form, and many go on to produce decorative autumn hips — a good choice for wildlife gardens and naturalistic planting.

Rosa X Harisonii belongs to our The Shrub species group of species roses.
