(Rares,) Cascading in great billowing trusses of palest butter-yellow, the small, perfectly formed double blooms of this magnificent early-flowering rose create a spectacular late spring display unlike almost any other. Thornless and remarkably free-flowering, it erupts into bloom from April, smothering its stems in clusters that carry the lightest, most delicate fragrance. Named in honour of Lady Banks, wife of the renowned botanist Sir Joseph Banks, it remains one of the most romantic and distinguished roses in cultivation.

Frequently asked questions

Bare-root Rosa Banksiae Lutea roses are best planted during their dormant season, from November to March, which is also when we dispatch them. Potted roses are grown in containers and can be planted at any time of year — just avoid periods of hard frost or drought, and water thoroughly after planting.

Every rose we sell is covered by our 1-year Rose Guarantee, so you can plant Rosa Banksiae Lutea with confidence. See our Rose Guarantee page for the full details.

Often, yes — we grow our roses ourselves and stock varies through the season, so a variety that's sold out can come back. Use the "Notify me" button above to be emailed the moment Rosa Banksiae Lutea is back in stock.

Rosa Banksiae Lutea's mature growth range is 600cm x 300cm (20ft x 10ft). Growing conditions such as soil, sunlight, feeding and pruning can affect the final size, so treat this as a guide rather than an exact figure.

Climbing roses produce fewer, larger flowers on stiffer, more upright growth, and most repeat-flower through summer with a light prune each year. Rambling roses grow much more vigorously on long, flexible canes and produce one spectacular flush of smaller flowers in early-to-midsummer, usually pruned just after flowering rather than in winter.

Rosa Banksiae Lutea belongs to our Rares, Rambling Roses family of roses.
