(Bourbons) A Peter Beales Roses introduction, this richly fragrant rose bears deeply cupped, fully double blooms of sumptuous dark maroon, repeat flowering with admirable generosity from summer well into autumn. Discovered by Peter Beales himself at the Barakura Gardens in Japan, it originated as a sport of the celebrated striped Bourbon 'Variegata di Bologna', inheriting all its parent's lush, old-rose character whilst offering a brooding, velvety uniformity of colour entirely its own.
