Flowering generously in early summer and again in autumn, this rose brings a glowing, luminous quality to whatever it adorns. She was named in honour of Madame Jules Gravereaux, wife of Jules Gravereaux, the founder of the celebrated Roseraie de l'Haÿ near Paris — one of the world's great rose gardens.

Frequently asked questions

Bare-root Madame Jules Gravereaux roses are best planted during their dormant season, from November to March, which is also when we dispatch them. Potted roses are grown in containers and can be planted at any time of year — just avoid periods of hard frost or drought, and water thoroughly after planting.

Every rose we sell is covered by our 1-year Rose Guarantee, so you can plant Madame Jules Gravereaux with confidence. See our Rose Guarantee page for the full details.

Often, yes — we grow our roses ourselves and stock varies through the season, so a variety that's sold out can come back. Use the "Notify me" button above to be emailed the moment Madame Jules Gravereaux is back in stock.

Madame Jules Gravereaux's mature growth range is 240cm x 180cm (8ft x 6ft). Growing conditions such as soil, sunlight, feeding and pruning can affect the final size, so treat this as a guide rather than an exact figure.

Climbing roses produce fewer, larger flowers on stiffer, more upright growth, and most repeat-flower through summer with a light prune each year. Rambling roses grow much more vigorously on long, flexible canes and produce one spectacular flush of smaller flowers in early-to-midsummer, usually pruned just after flowering rather than in winter.

Madame Jules Gravereaux belongs to our Teas (bush and climbing forms) family of roses.
