(Polyanthas and older floribundas) Frensham is a strikingly vigorous rose bearing bold, semi-double blooms of vivid scarlet-crimson in generous clusters, creating a brilliant, eye-catching display from June well into November. Its exceptional repeat-flowering performance and free-blooming nature make it a reliable, long-season presence in the garden, though it should be noted that this variety is notably well-armed with thorns.

Frequently asked questions

Bare-root Frensham roses are best planted during their dormant season, from November to March, which is also when we dispatch them. Potted roses are grown in containers and can be planted at any time of year — just avoid periods of hard frost or drought, and water thoroughly after planting.

Every rose we sell is covered by our 1-year Rose Guarantee, so you can plant Frensham with confidence. See our Rose Guarantee page for the full details.

Often, yes — we grow our roses ourselves and stock varies through the season, so a variety that's sold out can come back. Use the "Notify me" button above to be emailed the moment Frensham is back in stock.

Frensham's mature growth range is 120cm x 75cm (4ft x 2.5ft). Growing conditions such as soil, sunlight, feeding and pruning can affect the final size, so treat this as a guide rather than an exact figure.

Floribunda roses produce large clusters of blooms on each stem rather than one flower at a time, giving a bold, continuous show of colour from summer into autumn. They're generally bushier and more free-flowering than Hybrid Teas, making them excellent for borders and bedding.

Frensham is a Floribunda rose.

Polyantha roses are compact, hardy varieties that produce large sprays of small flowers almost continuously through the season. They were the forerunners of today's Floribundas and remain popular for low borders, edging and pots.

Frensham is a Polyantha rose.
