(Modern Climbers) Bearing sumptuous, fully double blooms in a warm fusion of pink, apricot and orange, Papi Delbard exudes an old-fashioned charm with a truly sensational fruity fragrance. Remarkably free-flowering from June through to October, it offers an extraordinarily long season of colour and scent. Named in honour of Georges Delbard, the revered patriarch of the celebrated French Delbard rose-breeding dynasty, it is a fitting tribute to a man who devoted his life to the rose.

Frequently asked questions

Bare-root Papi Delbard roses are best planted during their dormant season, from November to March, which is also when we dispatch them. Potted roses are grown in containers and can be planted at any time of year — just avoid periods of hard frost or drought, and water thoroughly after planting.

Every rose we sell is covered by our 1-year Rose Guarantee, so you can plant Papi Delbard with confidence. See our Rose Guarantee page for the full details.

Often, yes — we grow our roses ourselves and stock varies through the season, so a variety that's sold out can come back. Use the "Notify me" button above to be emailed the moment Papi Delbard is back in stock.

Papi Delbard's mature growth range is 270cm x 240cm (9ft x 8ft). Growing conditions such as soil, sunlight, feeding and pruning can affect the final size, so treat this as a guide rather than an exact figure.

Climbing roses produce fewer, larger flowers on stiffer, more upright growth, and most repeat-flower through summer with a light prune each year. Rambling roses grow much more vigorously on long, flexible canes and produce one spectacular flush of smaller flowers in early-to-midsummer, usually pruned just after flowering rather than in winter.

Papi Delbard belongs to our Modern Climbers family of roses.
